Prague, April 5 (CTK) - Roughly 20 Czechs protested against the recent NATO summit in Bucharest and burnt its flag outside the Romanian embassy Saturday.

The protesters questioned the sense of NATO and spoke against the measures that accompanied the summit.

Waving the banners "No to Repressions!", they chanted "We do not want wars, we do not want NATO."

Organiser Ondrej Slacalek told CTK they wanted to voice their disagreement with the means used for the organisation of the summit.

"NATO is portrayed as a protector of democracy and human rights, but the rights of its opponents were brutally abused by the Romanian police," Slacalek, one of the leaders of Czech anarchist movement, said.

Although Romania is a part of the EU that claims it is a zone of free movement of people, people were only stopped at its border because they had some magazines and flyers with them, Slacalek said.

The rally is also a reminder of NATO being a militarist pact protecting the interests of the strongest and the richest, Slacalek said.

The summit was held in Bucharest on April 2-4. It discussed NATO enlargement and the planned U.S. radar in the Czech Republic.
