EUROPEAN CARAVAN AGAINST THE FENCE : NO-ONE IS ILLEGAL

The coming days 4,5 and 6 of November departs to Ceuta the European Caravan against the Fence of death.

On August 22-25, 2005 in Bulgaria, a "No Border" camp will take place near the village of Kluch at an abandoned former border checkpoint. Kluch is 30 km from the town of Petrich (South-West part of Bulgaria) in Belasica Mountine, close to the Macedonian-Greek-Bulgarian border.

Ecotopia is an international gathering of young people involved or interested in environmental and social justice issues. Ecotopia takes place every summer since 1989, each year in a different host country. It is organized by EYFA (European Youth For Action) together with local grassroots environmental organisations. This year, the 17th edition will take place in Moldova.

[In the past 11 years, in the city of Juarez, Mexico, more than 450 girls and women have disappeared and at least 300 have been found murdered.] The city is a zone of transit between the Mexican interior and the United States, and hosts a large settlement of migrants who originally came here thinking that they were going to cross the border into the US.

The murdered and missing women were, for the most part, migrants, but they also had other characteristics that made them especially vulnerable. They were also poor women who lived in high-risk areas with little or no access to basic services such as running water, plumbing, streetlights and very little police protection.

The uprooting of people increases daily on a global scale. This is partially the consequence of what is generally called "neoliberal globalization". "Neoliberal globalization" means the violent pervasion of all human relations and living conditions according to the requirements of capital realization (or utilization). That is why countless people are forced to set off from the regions of economic depression and political crisis - in other words the thinned out zones of globalization - to other areas in search of a secure existence, of work, protection, income and human living perspectives.

This is a text about the activities that took place during the NoBorder camp from June 2003 which took place near Timisoara and the context within which this was all organized.

This is a compilation of various infos about recent deportations of Romanians and others from the Netherlands and France.

On Wednesday the 11th of February, Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) officers began a covert operation, arresting 65 failed asylum-seekers. The 53 Romanians and 12 Moldovans were arrested in their homes in Dublin, Meath, Westmeath and Wicklow, before being brought to Mountjoy and Cloverhill prisons to await their deportations. At 7.30 the following morning they were flown on a chartered flight, which went first to Romania and then on to Moldova. 12 of the deportees were children; some of whom may have been Irish citizens, the GNIB refuses to release that information. We do know however that 34 of the Romanian deportees were men, 12 women and 7 children.

Identity is the process of creating and maintaining borders, creating different kinds of people. This keeps the world packaged in tidy little boxes. These boxes, in turn, are necessary for the violence and domination of hierarchical societies. There cannot be masters or slaves, bosses or workers, men or women, whites or blacks, leaders or followers, heterosexuals or queers, without identity.
